History

IO1 was started by John F Galvin and Jonnie Russell after they worked together for a number of years in the corporate sector. After spending years building large scale systems they wanted to get out and have a go at building the stuff they always wanted to build for customers who want to be at the forefront of their marketplace. They have steadily over the last 4 years build up an extremely strong team who have focused on developing processes and systems that produce stunning results for our clients.

IO1 is focussed on growth through strategic partnering and attributes much of its success to date to its existing strategic partners.

Management Team

John F Galvin

He lives in Surrey (England) with his Wife and three children, he has worked in the IT industry for over 18 years. Passionate about Open Source and industry standards, he's an active participant in numerous technical communities, with particular interest in Semantic Web. His core technology expertise is web system design and he has been instrumental in architecting and delivering some of the largest and most complex platforms currently in use anywhere. Having delivered systems into some of the largest companies in the world (including, Vodafone, Nike, Reebok, TUI, Flightcentre, Stella Travel, UK Goverentment, EU, Nortel and many others) he has a gained a huge depth of experience in all aspects of system design, delivery and support. Core commercial expertise is in understanding how to deliver large technology solutions in a rapid, efficient and reliable manner to reduced cost without compromising quality and this focus is embodied in IO1's operating model, meaning that our clients are able to compete and win against even the largest competitors.

Jonnie Russell, M Eng, BSc

Jonnie is Chief Technology Officer and lives in Dublin with his wife and 2 children. Over the past 18 years he has worked for some of the largest companies in the world, such as T-Mobile, Allied Irish Bank, Goodbody Stock Brokers, Bank of Ireland and TUI, where he has been responsible for the development of a range of complex systems. His expertise is in highly secure large-scale interfaces and embedded systems development, having developed an embedded mail system for set-top-box's back in 1994 and worked on SSL/SET E-Commerce Solution for Secure Internet Payments in 1998. He then went on to develop the secure transfer application between Allied Irish Bank and Goodbody Stock Brokers for online trading. Other systems he has developed include MMS Gateway's, Cobol to Java Bridge, B2B Fruit Trading platform, online reporting system for a major bank, synchronization framework for an integrated security alerts system and countless corporate websites. He has also developed an award winning web application development tool for the Java / XML applications. Jonnie’s key focus in IO1 is the refinement of systems and processes that improve our capability to deliver higher quality solutions to our clients in ever decreasing timescales. The end result of this is our ever-increasing capacity to deliver what our clients need more quickly but without compromising on cost, quality or reliability.

John Morahan – Drupal Architect

John has been with IO1 for 4 years and is the lead on all Drupal work.  John is a member of the Drupal.org Security and well known within the Drupal community as one of the best quality Drupal coders in the world.  He is obsessive about the quality of code that we deliver and personally reviews all major commits.

Earl Miles – Director of Research

Earl is the author of the very popular Views module, as well as the Panels and CTools modules. He has been involved in the Drupal community since 2005 and his contributions very quickly earned him recognition as one of the most high profile contributors to the project.

Along with Views, Panels, Nodequeue and a host of other smaller modules, he is also responsible for major improvements to Drupal 6’s theming system and install system. He has focused on software designed to improve the user experience for the site developer and designer, attempting to build tools to bring flexibility that was previously limited to serious developers.  

Earl is also one of the fifteen founding members of the Drupal Association, a Belgian non-profit organisation whose purpose is to help Drupal grow.

In his new role as Director of Research at IO1, Earl will continue to innovate and develop disruptive software such as a Views and Panels but will also be working on developing an IO1 suite of Drupal products, as well as working on Drupal solutions for IO1’s impressive portfolio of corporate clients.

David Turner – Director of Professional Service

David leads the consulting, business analysis and project management within IO1.  David is an experienced enterprise software specialist with a proven record of delivering excellent value in start-up business and global enterprise environments.  David has worked for companies such as IBM, Red Hat, ArsDigita and QXL in roles spanning development through to solutions architecture.

Paula Hudspith – Director of Learning

Paula heads up the learning team for IO1 who provide expert advice and training on a range of topics. Paula has always been fascinated by the learning process. "People have different learning styles and I've always strived to empathise with those individual styles when sharing information. I think it's what I'm good at. Technology now offers us better ways to improve the learning process. I want to help make a difference."

Sarah O Neill – QA and Operations Manager

Sarah has two children and lives in Cork, Ireland. Sarah started with us in 2007 as a UI tester and quickly became an invaluable member of the team and was given responsibility for the overall quality and delivery of work for our clients.  Sarah manages the QA and Development staff on a day to day basis ensuring a smooth transition through the development process between the different teams.

Karel Galvin – Head of Project Management

Karel joined us in 2009, she has a BA as undergrad and HDip post grad.  Karel leads the project management on all SEO related projects and regularly helps out with most projects ensuring that they are staying on track.  She is focused on streamlining the communications between all parties, making sure that we deliver exactly what our clients need.
