I have no idea how could this slip for three years. Dries said Can't we cool up the throbber a bit? (Make it a rotating Druplicon or something. ;)) in this comment. If you can, please make a throbbing Druplicon (I think that's better than a rotating one) and submit to the issue please. It's very important -- it would make a number of developers very happy :D

Now that CCK and Views have release candidates for Drupal 6, it's the perfect time to start hammering down on the list of modules that haven't been ported yet. This video demonstrates how anyone with basic copy/paste/modify PHP skills can help port Drupal modules. Really! It's not nearly as bad as you think. :)
Topics covered include:

With the release candidates of CCK and Views now available for Drupal 6, the assorted 'Bots are busy updating several chapters of the upcoming Drupal Jumpstart book with the UI and subtle functionality changes in Drupal 6. I'm currently putting the finishing touches on Chapter 6 -- it will walk readers through building a product reviews web site. Along the way, we've decided to use a different contrib theme for each chapter's sample site, to provide some visual flare and help readers quickly spot which site is which when thumbing through screenshots in the book.

The Interaction Design and Information Architecture program at the University of Baltimore and a team of eight graduate students have completed a usability study on Drupal. The result is a great report (PDF) and an incredibly valuable video which they shared on drupal.org.

From the early days, Drupal had the ability to embed PHP code in its content. This provides flexibility and functionality, most importantly, nodes and blocks can contain dynamically fetched data from the database using custom queries and displayed them in other content.

This is an easy approach to get such data without writing a module.

Yay! I wanted this to happen long ago, but by delaying we managed to get Views, CCK and OG to all roll release candidates on the same day!
